This August Emma and Mark got married at the superb Inglewood Manor. Emma looked resplendent in her gorgeous gown – a fitted, lace covered design with a fishtail trail. Mark was dapper in his petrol blue suit and they made a handsome pair. It wasn’t only the couple that were a wedding photographer’s dream – the venue too was perfect. Inglewoood Manor is a picturesque and romantic building and we were so lucky with the weather. The sun shone down on the happy party and so the bride was able to walk up the aisle through a delightful floral archway which was outside so the perfect venue was the backdrop for the perfect wedding. Here are some images from the day:-

Heather & Jeff | Knowsley Hall
Heather & Jeff got married at the stunning Knowsley Hall this summer. This handsome couple made a perfectly matched pair and their day was a well-deserved success. Heather was positively glowing in her fitted white gown with it’s gorgeous detail of lace and beads. The bridesmaids complimented her flawlessly in their subtle and lovely peach dresses. The colours in the brides bouquet also blended perfectly with the overall style of the day. Jeff looked quite the dapper gent in his suit of blue so all in all everyone looked swell! Knowsley Hall is the perfect place for a wedding photographer to work – the grandiose and imposing architecture gives a real sense of occasion befitting the perfect wedding. Despite the overcast beginning to the day in terms of the weather, the sun came out just long enough to give us some stunning couple shots, full of atmosphere and romance. Overall, a fantastic day.

Wincham Hall Wedding: Leanne & Patrick
The sun shone upon Leanne & Patrick’s wedding at Wicham Hall this June. The bride’s smile was as stunning as her dress while the groom was handsome in his fabulous suit. Wicham Hall’s serene atmosphere and beautiful buildings coupled with it’s gorgeous grounds made a complementary backdrop to the couple’s joyous day. All the well-thought out details were simple yet classy; from the white rose bouquet to the classic car that brought Leanne to her wedding venue. Laughter presided over the day as Leanne & Patrick’s obvious delight in each other only added to the perfection of the occasion.
Rebecca & Richard | Castlefield Rooms
Rebecca & Richard were married in April at the stylish Castlefield Rooms in Manchester. Rebecca looked delightful in her fitted, lace covered gown of ivory while Richard was dapper in his suit with it’s splash of purple. The venue itself was gorgeously decorated and the low beams added a romantic touch which was complimented by the natural light that flooded in. The day was one of joy, warmth and laughter and as their wedding photographer, it was wonderful to be party to such a special day.

The setting reflected the couple themselves and the day was flawless from start to finish.
Lake District Wedding | Kerry and Dave
Kerry and Dave got married at the delightful Swan Hotel in the stunning setting of the Lake District. I was fortunate indeed to be their wedding photographer for this memorable occasion. Kerry was resplendant in a full length gown of lace while Dave was truly dapper in his suit of blue. Their daughter was a picture of cherubic loveliness in her white dress and the other bridesmaids provided further gorgeous touches in thier flowered frocks. The venue itself was cosy and intimate, the lawn at the back leading the way to the tranquil River Leven – an idyllic setting for the guests to mingle after the heartfelt service. Another delightful experience that the day had to offer was a boat ride for all across the iconic Lake Windermere, a serene event that allowed everyone to bask in the peace and beauty of mother nature as well as the joy of this very special day.
Sandhole Oak Barn Wedding | Lauren and George
Lauren and George got married at the stylish and romantic Sandhole Oak Barn in Cheshire. The day was a delightful one indeed and I was lucky enough to be their wedding photographer. Lauren looked lovely in her full length gown of lace while George was dapper in his suit of blue. The service was tranquil and moving with natural sunlight pouring into the room throughout. Outside after the service, the guests were serenaded by a flamenco guitarist which added a perfect touch to the already delightful atmosphere. All in all, a wonderful day was had by all.
Stockport Town Hall | Jennifer and Haydn
Jennifer and Haydn tied the knot at the sumptuous Stockport Town Hall. I had the honour of being their wedding photographer throughout their special day. Jennifer wore the most stunning dress imaginable – the touches of lace and full skirt suited her slender frame perfectly. Simply put, Jennifer looked stunning. Haydn was the picture of cool at her side in blue. The wedding day was full of class and the couples distinct personalities were apparent throughout. Jennifer’s unique and vintage style bouquet was a particularly delightful touch and perfectly complimented the bridesmaids gorgeous, 50’s style, flowered frocks. In fact, everywhere you looked through this glorious wedding day there were thoughtful vintage touches to be seen – the funky design of the three-tiered weddding cake, the oh so English tea cups and the beautiful bunting. From the stunning wedding venue of the Stockport Town Hall down to the sexy E-type Jaguar the happy couple travelled in, nothing was left to chance in this perfect wedding day.
Alicia Hotel Wedding | Leanne & Colin
Leanne and Colin got married at the delightful Alicia Hotel next to the grand Sefton Park in Liverpool. It was a real pleasure being their wedding photographer for the day. Leanne looked divine in her off the shoulder gown with it’s full skirt falling perfectly while Colin was sophistication itself in his suit of grey. The outdoor ceremony was an intimate and stylish occasion with the wedding vows being undertaken beneath a stunning, stone canopy of ancient design. The pictures of the couple were taken in the idyllic surroundings of Sefton Park which supported me in show casing how gorgeous and delighted they both were in the joy of their very special wedding day.
Croxteth Hall Wedding | Lisa & Dave
Lisa & Dave tied the knot at the splendid Croxteth Hall, Liverpool early in July. Lisa was simply stunning in her off the shoulder, fitted, lace gown with it’s full length skirt – a sophisticated style that suited this beautiful and glowing bride perfectly. Dave was handsome and suave in his blue suit and peach tie. The elegant wedding car the bride was transported in, matched this fine couple to a tee and the magnificent setting of Croxteth Hall was a further compliment to the joy this young couple clearly have in each other. It was a real honour to be the wedding photographer for this stylish day and to witness such happiness between two fabulous people.
Formby Beach Pre Wedding Photography | Lyndsey & Paul
Last week I met Lyndsey & Paul at the glorious pine wood forest at Formby Beach. We were blessed with one of our rare days of summer sun so far and the light streamed in through the trees with magnificent drama, allowing for some truly effective shots. A delightful stroll through the forest and we arrived at the beach. The majestic sand dunes coupled with the stretching sand and gentle sunset helped create a real sense of romance. Lyndsey and Paul’s delight in each other is plain to see throughout and I can hardly wait for the actual wedding day. Let’s hope it brings a similar day of sun!
Stacey & Jim in Alderley Edge
Despite a rather overcast evening in stunning Alderley Edge, Stacey and Jim (plus their two loveable hounds!) were easily able to make their love shine through the forbidding clouds. Photographing them was such a pleasure and they were perfectly at ease in front of the camera. This attractive couple were able to make the dramatic scenery around us, fade into the background. I very much look forward to shooting their wedding at the end of August this year.

Sophistication and romance were the key words for the day of Amy and Ross’ wedding held at the intimate and stylish Wincham Hall Hotel. Amy was simply stunning in her full-skirted wedding gown, wearing her hair in an elegant bun to showcase the pretty embellishments on the straps of her dress. She arrived at the venue in full splendor inside a magnificent cream and chocolate Bentley to join her clearly delighted and dashing soon to be husband, Ross. The couple were married in an atmosphere of joy and tenderness that was moving to behold. The images of the couple capture the simple beauty of their surroundings as well as their obvious delight in each other. A touching and celebratory day that I was honoured to be a part of.

Town Hall Wedding Photography
Earlier this month Nicki & Adam got married at the amazing Town Hall in Manchester. At about 9 am I met Adam at the Gentry Grooming Co in Didsbury village and then followed him and his mate for a glass of champagne at the venue for the reception, ’11 Didsbury Park’. Once they had started their day with a cold glass of bubbles they cycled back to Adam’s. I had a chance to take several shots in the morning of Adam, his sister and future brother in law getting ready.

Lisa and Jake chose the lovely Fletcher Moss park in Didsbury as the location for their pre wedding shoot. This is a park where they often go to and has special memories for them. West Tower Pre Wedding Photography – Sarah and Chris
On a cold end of March day, I met the two lovely Doctors at their exclusive hill top wedding venue. The West Tower is located in beautiful Lancashire countryside and is a very romantic spot indeed. Sarah and Chris looked lovely for the pre wedding photo-shoot in blue. Although I had met them both before, this shoot really gave us all an opportunity to find out more about each other. I found out how Chris proposed and what their future plans are, so it was a success. The venue and surrounds looked gorgeous with some recent snow on the fields next door. We had a quick look inside and the West Tower looked every bit the top wedding venue it’s reputed to be.

Wedding Venues
Although by the time couples book me they have usually booked their venue. However here is a list of my favourites in the city centre. There are several fabulous venues across Cheshire and Lancashire that are unbelievable about which I’ll post another time..
1: Midland Hotel Manchester- This is a top hotel in the centre of Manchester and has one of the finest old buildings in the city. Its easy to get to for guests and all the rooms are fantastic.
2: Town Hall Manchester – Another stunning building in the city centre of Manchester. Loads of easy transport links for your guests and has been established as a wedding venue for some time now.
3: Manchester art Gallery – Also situated in the city centre and is close to many hotels. This is another gorgeous building that allows weddings.
4: Old Trafford Football or Cricket Grounds – I have put these together as you can choose which one you prefer according to your sport. Both hire rooms for weddings.
5: Ordsall Hall – Situated in Salford, about 5 minutes in the car is this little gem. Superb looking building with very helpful staff.
6: Great Jon Street Hotel : This has superb views of the city centre from the fabulous roof garden. A lovely hotel on a quiet street minutes walk from the city centre.
7: Monastery in Gorton – This is a few minutes drive from the city centre but is one of the most popular venues.
These were venues situated in the city or close by. There are several Wedding venues situated in the countryside which is only a few minutes drive by car or on a train.

What kind of Wedding photographer should you hire ?
There are many things for the couple to sort out! One of the most important things on the lengthy to-do list is choosing the right photographer for you. I am going to try and give you some insights into the world of wedding photography which might help.
There are several thousand wedding photographers out there. Only some of them are full time wedding photographers and of that group, only some are any good and (again!) of that group, only some are people you will get on with or want to have at your wedding. Also there’s the issue of the budget. So, who do you choose when the options are endless? My advice is to go with a photographer whose work you like. By that I mean their style of photography and the products they are offering. Also, try and stay away from weekend photographers as they often only shoot weddings for fun and are not professionals. I have written about this previously on my blog so won’t go on about it again but you need a professional full time photographer as the day can’t be recreated.
I have noticed some very good photographers offer a very poor standard of wedding albums. There is little point in spending a small fortune on your wedding pictures just to find out later that your album is not the best. I offer Queensberry Albums and these are widely perceived as the best ones around. I also offer albums from Sim2000 which also has an excellent finish and is easy on the pocket.
You should try and speak to, or even better, meet your wedding photographer before the wedding day. I offer a pre wedding shoot and consultation a few weeks before the wedding to meet the couple and get to know them. This also gives us a chance to agree on the kind of images they want and together we create a wedding photography schedule.
Furthermore, you must check if your photographer has proper professional equipment and insurance. You should ask about back up cameras and lenses as, like any other machine, cameras can pack up in the middle of a shoot. Another thing to look into is the wedding photography contract to know exactly what you are getting into and most professional photographers will sign a contract with you.
Ultimately, you will only be satisfied with the photographs if you get top class images, an amazing service and a great album to remember your special day. So choose your wedding photographer very carefully and enjoy the process of creating quality images with a professional. A slight cliché is that wedding photography is an investment and not an expense. Your wedding pictures done by a professional are more likely to give you the joy you deserve.
Carly and Paul – Pre Wedding photography at the Alberts Shed/Dukes 92 Castlefield Manchester
This Saturday, I met Carly and Paul for the first time after they booked me in October. We sat and had a quick drink at Dukes 92 and then went out and shot some fun pictures in the Castlefield area.
Wedding Albums
So what most couples are looking for is a wedding photographer that offers the very best photography and the best products. I have a range of carefully selected products for my clients. These range from the world famous Queensberry Albums to the more affordable Sim2000 Albums. In addition I can organise parent albums, large prints, canvas prints and thank you cards. So I’ll try and give you a brief description about the products. Recently I have started offering Folio Albums as well.
Queensberry Albums – These are recognised the world over as the best albums to showcase your wedding pictures. Each of these are hand made in New Zealand. They source the papers and leathers from the best manufactures around. Please visit there website for a video on how these are made and the different kinds of books they make. I can design and arrange any of these you like. Please call or email for any information you need.
Sim2000 Albums – These are made in the UK and have won some local awards. A more affordable product but its finished beautifully. Please call to arrange a meeting so I can show you some examples.
So depending on the album you choose I’ll design the book and email you some layouts. Only once you approve the drafts will the book go for printing. If you have any questions please let me know.
Parent albums are available for any of the main albums you choose. The costs for these will be dependant on the album you choose.
I can also arrange large size prints, canvas wraps and thank you cards. Please ask for details.
Winter weddings
There is an increase in the number of winter wedding year on year as the wedding venue offer big discounts. So I have a pre wedding shoot coming up in January and Weddings in February along with 2 fayres over the next 2 months. You can can come and see me at my stand the Mecure hotel in Bowden on the 27th of January 2013 and then the big one at Event city on the 16th and 17th of March 2013.
Photographing a wedding in the winter months takes a special kind of understanding of lighting. I try and use an assistant when I can for these shoots. You should always have a good quality flash and if possible get the flash off camera to give your lighting a different and international look.
Wedding Photographer Manchester and Cheshire
If your’e thinking about why you should hire a professional wedding photographer in Manchester then let me try and give you a few reason why…
Your wedding day is one day you need someone who is a professional to take your pictures. I’m sure all your friends have amazing cameras on their phones or even great point and shoot cameras. Some of you might even have a very enthusiastic uncle or aunt or friend with a several thousand pound camera willing and offering to shoot your wedding photographs for free. They probably will even do a reasonable job, but the main reason to hire a professional is that this is their job. They will have solid professional cameras, at least 3 different lenses, a back up camera, a professional flash gun and most importantly they will know how to process your images. A person who lives for his craft will no doubt have the knowledge and ability to handle most unusual situations thrown at them.
One of the other reason is that a good amateur might have a descent eye for photographs but experience is very important in a high pressure situation like a wedding. There is no chance of re shooting the photographs. Processing images is a very tough and important part of the job. This is what you pay most of your money for as this takes the most amount of time. I for one use 3 different software’s to post process images. This would typically take me over a week per wedding. There are wedding photographers who would just process images in batches but attention to detail makes images special for a long time to come and stand out. If I used filters, like some wedding photographers then all my wedding photography would look the same. Most importantly it will not look the same as another wedding photographers work, its truly unique. One more thing, if your cousin or uncle had a £1000 pair of scissors would you let him cut your hair ? You hire a professional for an important job, simple.
